We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician who is licensed in Missouri to work in our Adoption Center examination room. RVTs in our adoption center work in the background of the shelter and are a key part of keeping our shelter animals healthy. We value their ability to work independently, identify early signs of illness, understand the significance of those signs, and communicate their concerns with the veterinarian. Their most frequent duties include:

Conducting routine physical examinations on arriving animals
Performing laboratory testing
Administering medication to animals in the shelter
Treating sick and injured animals as directed by our veterinarians

Our RVTs are a vital part of conducting triage for rescued animals. This position is an opportunity to help unwanted, homeless, neglected and abused animals who would otherwise not have any care at all. It may be emotionally challenging at times, but is also uniquely rewarding!

Requirements:

Previous experience in a shelter or veterinary clinic setting is required.
Must possess organizational skills, internal customer service skills, and be an effective communicator
Ability to work independently
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Computer literate
Must have a current Missouri Vet Tech license
Must be able to work well in challenging emotional settings
Must have weekend availability
